Donate to Ukraine's university students
Donations help students cover their living costs during their studies in Finland.
Aalto University is offering researchers forced to leave Ukrainian universities due to Russia’s invasion the chance to continue their academic work at Aalto. The visiting researcher positions are funded by Aalto for a fixed term of one year in the university’s research areas. The positions offered will go to altogether about 20 researchers. See the recruitment announcement here.
As reported earlier, Aalto has offered scholarships and studies without tuition fees to Ukrainians who have had to flee the war in Ukraine and to students who have received asylum from Ukraine. Over 100 applications were received. At this stage, places are available for at least 40 students. Aalto Open University studies are free of tuition fees for Ukrainians until 31 July 2023.
The Ukraine fund established at Aalto University to cover cost-of-living expenses for the students has received numerous donations during its first weeks.
‘We have received already nearly 250 donations to support students fleeing the war. I wish to thank all who have contributed thus far. Their support is enormously important for those afflicted by the crisis. The fund continues to be open to receive donations,’ says Aalto University President Ilkka Niemelä.
