Changes in Väre lockers
New time limits and procedures
All lockers will have certain usage time which you can check from the locker screen. If a reserved locker isn’t used during the time frame it will blocked. Eventually all blocked lockers will be emptied and released for other users if the owner hasn’t contacted lobby service or building officer within reasonable time.
Currently all the so-called long term lockers will be blocked after one month of non-usage. For the so-called daily use lockers the time before blocking is now 48 hours, weekends excluded so you can use them from Friday to Monday and also keep on using it after that as long as it’s in active use. We will monitor the availability and usage logs of the lockers and reserve the right to adjust the times if needed.
What if my locker is blocked?
If your locker has been blocked you can ask the lobby service to open the it for you. Currently lobby service can’t unblock the locker. Unblocking can be done with some delay so ask for that if you want to keep using the same locker. Lobby service can also release the locker so you can start using another locker right away if there are any available. At the moment most free lockers are at 2nd and 3rd floor.
Background
Previously some of the lockers were marked as long-term lockers which seemed to cause people to reserve them personally even when not actually needed. This caused low usage rates while at the same time there was clearly not enough lockers available for those who have needed them. On the other hand the instructions on the daily lockers claimed that they will be automatically released at midnight, which is not true but the locker will be blocked for everyone. The usage time for so-called daily lockers have now been extended so they are now usable also for longer-term active usage. We’ll fix the instructions in the near future.
