The Homecoming Day 2020 alumni event has been cancelled. Unfortunately, so many uncertainties remain in the coronavirus situation that organising such a large event safely is still impossible. At present the instructions given by Aalto University also recommend organising events as remote functions. Important themes for Homecoming Day include a topical and thought-provoking seminar, as well as meeting friends from student days, and networking, which are challenging to implement online in a meaningful manner.

Homecoming Day is usually held at two-year intervals, and at previous events the School of Business has announced its Alumnus or Alumna of the Year. This year the Alumnus/Alumna of the Year 2020 will be announced at the Aalto 10 – Alumni Studio & Science Show remote event which will be held on 10 October at 2–4 pm.

The other big alumni event of the School of Business will be held in the autumn of 2021 – the Jaakko Honko lecture, and plans are to hold the next Homecoming Day in 2022. All School of Business alumni who have joined the alumni register will be sent invitations to both events.

The Better Business – Better Society seminar series of the School of Business will continue in the autumn of 2020 as a remote event. The next seminar will be held on 1 October and the following one will be on 5 November, and recordings of all previous seminars can be found here: https://www.aalto.fi/en/school-of-business/better-business-better-society-seminar-series
