Aalto Talent Expo once again brought together students and employers in the fields of art, technology and business in Dipoli in November 2024. The event was organised for the fifth time, this time in a brand new location: Dipoli. The event has a firm reputation among students and employers. Many of the exhibitors have been joining Aalto Talent Expo since the beginning, though again this year new organisations joined the event as well.

The marketing for employers begins well before the summer holidays and continues all the way to the fall until the registration deadline. If you wish to join the marketing list of the event, please subscribe here: Aalto Talent Expo mailing list subscription. By joining the list, you will be among the first ones to hear when the registration for the next event opens.

Many of the students are already familiar with the event and know when to start looking for information about each year's Talent Expo. New students get to learn about Aalto Talent Expo at the beginning of their studies in Aalto Party during Aalto Day One. The event is marketed to the students both digitally with newsletters, emails and social media but also with a traditional, printed and home-delivered post card, posters and visual presence on campus as well as a yearly marketing tour around the lobbies in the Otaniemi campus.

Color coding as a tool for connecting employers and students

Different colored stickers help employers identify the school of the students visiting their stand. Tailored fair signs in return help students find employers who were looking to hire students from the different Aalto schools. Additionally, employers could indicate if they were able to hire non-finnish speaking students and offer thesis assignments. This year, for the first time, there was also a sign for doctoral students and the employers could indicate if they had suitable positions also for doctoral students.

80% of students and 80% of employers found the methods for targeting to be working well at the event.

Open Feedback

“Overall, the live fair has a good vibe. However, some points I marked as "can be improved."
1. The industries are not diverse enough. Most industries are related to engineering, energy, and science. As an art school student, it's difficult to see cultural-related companies here. 2. Some companies have the label "ART" on their signs, but they need other kinds of talents when you ask about that. 3. Too less ARTS-related opportunities. This is unfair because Aalto has the 6th rank in Art QS ranking but such less positions for arts students..” - Student

“Overall a very successful event! We had very promising applicants in our CV & LinkedIn clinic, which is always a great thing. ” (translated from Finnish)  - Exhibitor

"The space was nice, but sometimes very loud and it was difficult to hear the students." (translated from Finnish) - Exhibitor

“The event was really helpful for international students to get to know of  Finnish industries.” - Student

“Really well organised fair, thank you for that! :) It was really handy, that there were these School stickers and many students knew how match the sticker with the information on the stand signs. There have been challenges with this in the previous years, so this was a clear improvement. ... ” (translated from Finnish)  - Exhibitor

“Best Career Fair ever attended. Well done!”
