Could you introduce yourself shorty?

My name is Zaw Htet Aung, but I usually go by “Chris”. I am originally from a lovely southernmost part of Myanmar (Burma) called “Kawthaung”, which is a coastal region where the mountains meet the sea. I am a first-year student, also known as “Fuksi” in Finnish.

How would you describe the community at the Mikkeli campus?

Believe me when I say this, never have I ever expected to experience such a tight-knit community when I came to Aalto. The closeness of the community at our school surprised me in a good way and it almost feels like I am not at a university, but at a high school summer camp. Being a part of the SkiBBA club is one of the coolest things at school. We had a trip to Ruka ski resort in December organized by SkiBBA, and it would be an understatement when I say that it was “awesome”.

How would you describe your studying experience?

My experience at Aalto University Mikkeli Campus has been going greater than I expected before coming here. My most memorable moment would be when it was the first day of going to Aalto University and I could not find the door to the university. As a result, I spent a considerable time looking for the doors.
Although Mikkeli is quite a small city, I have found it interesting to live in and explore. It is definitely a great place to live in during the spring and summertime when you can enjoy the sunny weather and breezy air when you are exploring outside.

What kind of plans do you have for your future?

Having the privilege to study in an environment surrounded by international students from all walks of life from different cultures, and even different continents definitely changed my point of view, and expanded my horizons. I believe that my experience at Aalto University will have a huge impact on me when I am out and about in the real-world business settings.

I can’t say for sure at the moment, but I am confident that whatever I do in the future, the programme will give me an advantage and invaluable knowledge.

If you are thinking of applying to Aalto University, I can say that it is one of the most optimal choices that you can make. I wish you good luck in your journey of stepping into one of the most memorable experiences of your life.
